The lights flickered off again, and it was almost pitch black except for the cold illumination of my flashlight. All we knew was that we weren’t allowed inside. Some people said this was where they kept the prototype. The overhead lights flickered then flared back to life just as I passed The Door. I’d either find someone to help or just go home. Sluggishly I stood and walked toward the exit. There was still light filtering through the windows, but that wouldn’t reach far. I switched on the flashlight connected to my phone. There had to be a generator for this place. I sighed and picked up the phones to call security. I shouldn’t have come in when snow was expected, but it was too quiet in my apartment, and there was a lot to do here. I vaguely remembered a different life that wasn’t all about my job. Of course, I’d decided to come in on my day off work. Looking around, I surveyed the empty offices. These buildings were set up to handle worse weather than this. It had shut down 10 seconds ago with nearly everything else. Now the snowflakes looked closer to golf balls. The last time I’d checked, the snow had been a speck on the horizon. It may come down softly at first, but it can transform into a full blizzard in little time at all.

i get that the author may have thought ‘finestra’ might sound like a lovely title to readers who dont know the translation, but i just couldnt get over it.īut all in all, this story is a pretty good time. also, the fact that everyone literally calls the MC ‘window’ is so cringey. the world-building relies very much on surface level info-dumps, the pacing is inconsistent at times, and the side characters are pretty generic. but im not complaining!Īnd even though i did enjoy reading this, i couldnt help but notice little things throughout that make it obvious this is a debut novel. its a pretty main focus so, while i was enjoying the chemistry between dante and alessa, the other parts of the story tended to all away. due to the way this is structured, i found myself more invested in the romance aspect of the story. What a fun story! its a unique blend of italian influences, god-given magic and demon enemies, slow-burn romance, and strong main characters. Chalamet received his first Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Elio in this film, and his performance as Lee in Bones and All is arguably even better. The two collaborated on the 2017 romance/drama Call Me By Your Name. This is not the first time Guadagnino and Chalamet have worked together. It may not be a movie you would watch with your family or something you’ll love if you mind seeing gore on-screen, but it truly is a fantastic film that should be seen by everyone. The story is so original, which, combined with the brilliant acting and beautiful cinematography, makes Bones and All a must-watch. Guadagnino does a beautiful job of blending the two genres of horror and romance in a way that makes this movie unlike any other. Two people who feel unworthy of love fall madly for one another. Even though this film deals with lots of dark themes, at its core, it’s a love story. They are “eaters,” cannibals who don’t want to hurt people, but were born with this intense need to eat other people. Through their journey of self-discovery and confusion, they cross paths and realize they both share the same hunger for people. Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet star as Maren and Lee, respectively, two young adults who feel alone and isolated in the world. His new film Bones and Allis no exception to this. Through his captivating storytelling abilities, audiences have a tendency to connect with the characters in his films and feel deeply for them. Filmmaker Luca Guadagnino is one of the most exciting, truthful, and romantic directors of our time. And the restless dead, it would seem, are the least of her problems.Īt once provocative, terrifying, and darkly subversive, Dread Nation is Justina Ireland’s stunning vision of an America both foreign and familiar-a country on the brink, at the explosive crossroads where race, humanity, and survival meet.
